Difonzo Memorial Scholarship Tournament
September 27, 2021
The Fourth Annual Thomas L. DiFonzo Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament was held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Laconia Country Club.
The DiFonzo Scholarship was established by Laconia’s members in 2018, in memory of Tom DiFonzo the club’s long-time course superintendent who lost his battle with cancer that year.
Since the fund was endowed, Laconia has hosted this annual golf tournament to help grow the balance of the fund. The “DiFonzo” is awarded annually to an employee of Laconia CC who has shown financial need and a commitment to their ongoing education.
72 players participated, making for a great turnout. During the post-tournament gathering, silent auctions were held, Sam Stafford – the Laconia employee receiving the 2021-22 DiFonzo award was introduced, and Mitchell Jean was recognized as the 2021 Tournament Honoree for his many contributions to The McDonough Foundation and Laconia Country Club. A pen and ink rendering donated by artist Roger Gagne was presented for a live auction. Doug and Kellie Klock placed the winning bid, then graciously gave this meaningful piece of art to Laconia Country Club to display for all its members to enjoy.
The DiFonzo Tournament Committee wishes to thank the following businesses and individuals for so generously supporting the event:
