ANNOUNCEMENT: MAY 5, 2024
This year’s scholarship process is extremely challenging for the Foundation, as it involves one part-time employee reviewing TWO sets of applications for each scholar who applies, trying to stay on our timeline for scholarship awards, along with the remainder of her workload. Much work remains between now and early August when checks are cut, including scheduling interviews with each of our applicants.
Each scholar’s understanding and cooperation is expected to help us achieve our goal.
Once your application is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email containing the information you submitted, as well as a link to Part 2 of the application. It is a good practice not to delete this email, as it contains time and date verification of submission. ALSO, please check the contents of the email confirmation carefully to ensure that all attachments are included in it. If any are missing, you’ll need to email them to mcdonoughscholarship@gmail.com, or your application will be disqualified. Retain this confirmation email if you plan to renew. It can be helpful since it contains a complete record of this year’s submission as a referral tool when submitting subsequent years’ applications.
For 2024-25 RENEWING SCHOLARS:
If you are applying between May 5 and May 15, please be advised it is your sole responsibility to ensure all required information has been submitted. At this late date, no notification for missing information will be provided if your application was submitted on or after May 5th. We will work with first time applicants up until May 13 to attempt to correct any deficiencies. We do not offer this courtesy to anyone applying on May 14 or 15.
If you do not submit all required information for Part 1 by May 15, your application will be disqualified, and you will not receive any scholarship money this year.
BE MINDFUL OF THE JUNE 15 EXTENSION FOR FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE. This extension was put in place to accommodate those who have encountered difficulties with their FAFSA’s and Financial Aid Offers. IF YOU HAVE YOUR PRESENTLY FINANCIAL INFORMATION, you are expected to complete Part 2 now rather than waiting until the extension deadline. We require disclosure/submission of any financial assistance or scholarship package your school offers to you in addition to your FAFSA for Part 2 of your documentation to be considered incomplete. If you have most of your information, please submit Part 2, with a note that the remainder will be forthcoming.
NO FURTHER REMINDERS WILL BE SENT for either deadline. As the individual applying so close to the deadline, it is your responsibility to be sure everything is submitted correctly.
ADDITIONALLY, failure to respond promptly to email requests to schedule or attend your required annual interview will result in disqualification of eligibility.
AGAIN – BE SURE TO VERIFY THAT YOUR FILE ATTACHMENTS ARE STILL ATTACHED BEFORE HITTING THE “SUBMIT” BUTTON. You will not receive notice of any missing information for Part 1.
If you have difficulty attaching any of your files, simply email the attachments to mcdonoughscholarship@gmail.com and make a note in the comments section on this application that the documents are being sent separately.

The 2024-25 Application is now available.
This is an unprecedented year, given the difficulties associated with the new FAFSA rollout. We are working to make the process a bit less stressful for our applicants who may not yet have all their financial information available.
We are handling this year’s applications as a two-part process.
Part 1 of the application is now available on our website. Part 1 asks all general questions which do not pertain to financial information, including such things as : applicant and parent contact information, club/course affiliation, school attending, interests, activities, hobbies, community service, etc. Nothing contained in Part 1 requires providing any financial information.
Part 1 of this year’s applications and all associated supporting documentation MUST be received by 11:59 EDT on May 15, 2024 to be considered for a 2024-25 scholarship award.
The link to Part 2 will be provided by email to applicants upon their completion of Part 1. This portion of the application contains questions regarding school expenses and all anticipated sources for paying these expenses, such as family contributions, grants, scholarships, financial aid from schools, 529’s. You will be required to provide us with your FAFSA Report as part of this submission.
Part 2 of this year’s applications and all associated supporting documentation MUST be received by 11:59 EDT on June 15, 2024 to be considered for a 2024-25 scholarship award.
It is expected that applicants will be considerate of the time constraints involved in the evaluation process and complete this portion of their application as soon as they have their financial information available.
No exceptions will be made to either deadline.
The earlier a candidate applies in 2024, the better!
Our plan is to distribute scholarship money in early August, as usual.
